Healthy partnerships take work and require cohesion in many domains, such as communication, conflict resolution, and intimacy. It is natural for couples to experience difficulty from time to time, but sometimes outside help is needed to help sort through these issues. Couples therapy can assist with reconciling couples and facilitating their emotional connection. At CITC Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)—an empirically supported comprehensive treatment framework that focuses on using emotions as an agent of change—will be primarily used to help address present concerns. Through therapy couples will learn about adaptive emotional responses and how these can be used to improve their relationships.
At CITC we have clinicians trained in EFT who can help couples with their difficulties. The usual course of treatment is anywhere from 8-20 sessions, depending on the nature and severity of the concerns.
