Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Anxiety

Anxiety is a common and often adaptive response to stress.   It can even be beneficial.   For some people, however, anxiety can become a serious and debilitating problem.   There are a wide range of anxiety disorders ranging from mild to serious, and include social anxiety, recurrent panic attacks, generalized anxiety, post-traumatic stress, obsessive-compulsive disorders and specific phobias.  It has been estimated that one in four Canadians will have at least one anxiety disorder in their lifetime.  Untreated anxiety is a risk factor for developing depression, substance abuse, or other problems.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) has been shown to be a proven form of treatment for anxiety disorders.  At CITC we have highly skilled clinicians who are trained in CBT and can help you overcome your anxiety.  The usual course of treatment is anywhere from 8-20 sessions, depending on the nature and severity of the anxiety.
