Consultation and Training

 Our Vision

CITC is an innovative and leading psychology practice that offers specialized treatment in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) for adults, adolescents and children. Our vision is that both cognitive and interpersonal factors play a significant role in psychological health, and that by helping clients make changes to how they think and how they relate to others, we can have a profound impact on their day-to-day functioning.

Our Training Program

The Cognitive and Interpersonal Therapy Centre (CITC) is proud to offer a comprehensive practicum and internship training program to students in master’s (e.g., M.A., M.Ed.) or doctoral-level (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D., Psy.D.) psychology programs. Clinical placements typically follow the September to May academic-year schedule but training opportunities are available throughout the calendar year.

We accept students who are training in intervention and assessment for adults, adolescents, and children. Intervention will focus on learning how to deliver manualized, empirically-validated CBT and IPT. Assessment will focus on clinical interviewing and the application of personality, mood, and interpersonal psychological measures.

Training Opportunities

As part of CITC’s comprehensive training program, practicum students will benefit from the following clinical development opportunities:

  • Monthly case presentations/discussions during clinical rounds with the Centre’s multi-disciplinary team of Psychologists, Psychological Associates, and Psychotherapists, each of whom have extensive experience in CBT and IPT, as well as other empirically-validated treatment approaches (e.g., Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion-focused therapy, and Psychodynamic therapy).
  • Monthly consultation meetings with CITC’s Director of Clinical Training to receive clinical and placement-related support. Weekly in-depth supervision with either CITC’s Director, Director of Clinical Training, or Child/Adolescent Supervisor.

  • A vast library of training videos, treatment manuals, and books.

Additionally, due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, CITC is now a 100% virtual office and offers online therapy though a secure and encrypted electronic health records system called OWL Practice. We believe that online therapy will continue to be offered in the future, beyond the COVID-19 pandemic. Developing competence and comfort with online therapy is thus an integral part of our training program.

CITC’s training program is led by a group of clinically expert and supportive mental health professionals:

  • CITC’s Founder and Director, Dr. Carolina McBride, Ph.D., C. Psych., is the primary supervisor for the M.A./Ph.D./Psy.D. adult intervention and assessment practicum and provides weekly individual and group supervision.
  • CITC’s Director of Clinical Training, Daniel Pauly, Ed.D., RP, is the primary supervisor for the M.Ed./Ed.D. adult intervention practicum/internship and provides weekly individual and group supervision.
  • CITC’s Psychological Associate, Dr. Ameeta Dudani, Ph.D. C. Psych, is the primary supervisor for the M.A./Ph.D. adolescent/child intervention and assessment practicum and provides weekly individual and group supervision.
