We offer consultations for professionals seeking guidance around a specific clinical issue or wishing to expand their skill set. Consultation provides a forum for practitioners to meet with colleagues to discuss clinical and practice issues in a supportive and confidential setting. Our consultation services are also useful for those wishing to receive peer supervision in CBT or IPT. If you are interested in our consultation services please contact us at 416-570-5050 or email Dr. McBride at email@example.com
CITC offers practicum placements to students in Masters or PhD level programs. Practicums following the academic year schedule (September to May).
CITC has grown to be a leading psychology practice that offers specialized treatment in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) for adults, adolescents and children. Practicum students will have the opportunity to treat only adults and adolescents. Learning to work in a multidisciplinary team is a key part of the practicum experience. Our CITC team is made of Psychologists, Psychological Associates, and Psychotherapists who have extensive experience in CBT and IPT. Monthly rounds will give students the opportunity to actively engage with other members of our team.
Our aim at CITC is to improve clients’ overall health and well being by teaching them specific skills. CITC embraces the vision that both cognitive and interpersonal factors play a significant role in psychological health and that by helping clients make changes to the ways in which they think and to the ways in which they relate to others, we can have a profound positive impact on their day-to-day functioning. Practicum students will have the opportunity to learn both assessment and treatment. Assessments will focus on a clinical interview in addition to personality, mood, and interpersonal measures. The goal of the practicum placement will be to learn how to deliver manualized, empirically validated CBT and IPT. Students will also learn how to do complicated case conceptualizations and formulations and write detailed Psychological reports.
Due to COVID-19 CITC is now a 100% virtual office and offers online sessions though a secure and encrypted portal called Owl. Regardless of the global health crisis, we anticipate that virtual appointments will continue to be offered in the future and will play an integral role in the upcoming year’s practicum placement and beyond.
Dr. McBride is primary supervisor for the practicum and provides both individual and group weekly supervision. Monthly rounds will allow practicum students to present cases and receive feedback from our multidisciplinary team.
We use the common deadline and notification procedures for Greater Toronto Area Practicum Training Programs. The application deadline for both summer and fall/winter placements is in February, and the notification day is in March.
This academic year, the deadline is Monday February 3rd, 2021. Notification Day is Wednesday March 25th, 2021 at 9:00a.m.
