WSIB Approved Services at the Cognitive & Interpersonal Therapy Centre

The Cognitive & Interpersonal Therapy Centre (CITC) provides Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) approved psychological assessments and psychotherapy for individuals who have experienced a work-related psychological injury. 

At CITC we have a team of WSIB approved Registered Psychotherapists and Clinical Psychologists that conduct psychological assessments and treatment, supporting individuals as they navigate recovery, return-to-work planning, and the psychological impact of workplace injury or trauma.  

WSIB Psychological Services

Conditions Commonly Addressed in WSIB Care 

1. Workplace-related PTSD or trauma 

2. Anxiety and panic related to injury or work stress 

3. Depression following injury, loss of function, or prolonged absence from work 

4. Adjustment disorders 

5. Occupational stress and burnout related to a compensable workplace event 

Psychological Assessments for WSIB 

Psychological assessments may be requested by WSIB to: 

  1. Clarify diagnosis following a workplace injury or traumatic eventAssess functional impact on work and daily life 
  2. Inform treatment planning or return-to-work recommendations 
  3. Support case management and decision-making

Assessments are conducted in accordance with WSIB requirements and include a clear, objective, and clinically grounded report.

WSIB-Funded Psychotherapy 

Dr. Fitzgerald also provides evidence-based psychotherapy for first responders with approved WSIB treatment plans. WSIB psychotherapy blocks may focus on: 

  1. Anxiety and depression related to workplace injury
  2. Trauma and PTSD following workplace accidents or incidents
  3. Adjustment difficulties, stress, and emotional regulation
  4. Support during return-to-work or modified work planning 

Treatment is collaborative, goal-oriented, and aligned with WSIB guidelines.

At CITC we have 4 therapists who approved to provide WSIB services. We can see WSIB clients in-person at our office in Midtown Toronto, or virtually across Ontario.

Dr. Niki Fitzgerald

Dr. Niki Fitzgerald is a clinical psychologist at CITC who works with first responders experiencing psychological difficulties related to injury, trauma, and stress.

Her approach is evidence based, compassionate, and Informed by cognitive and interpersonal therapy models.

Dr. Fitzgerald brings clinical clarity, professionalism, and sensitivity to the WSIB process, helping clients feel supported while meeting insurer requirements. 

Dr. Devina Daya is a licensed Clinical Psychologist who provides evidence-based assessment and treatment for anxiety, depression, OCD, and trauma-related concerns, including those linked to workplace stress and injury. She also supports individuals navigating grief, life transitions, and interpersonal challenges.

Dr. Daya takes a compassionate, collaborative approach, creating a safe and non-judgemental space to support recovery and return to well-being.

Aleksandra is a Registered Psychotherapist who provides individual therapy for adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, and life or relationship challenges, including those related to workplace stress and injury. Her background in research and neurobiology informs a thoughtful, evidence-based approach to care.

She draws on therapies such as CBT, ACT, IPT, and IFS to tailor treatment to each client’s needs. Aleksandra offers a compassionate, collaborative, and non-judgemental space to support meaningful change and recovery.

With over 13 years of experience, Dr. Lorena Hsu provides evidence-based assessment and treatment for a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, sleep issues, trauma, stress, chronic pain, and challenges related to workplace injury and life transitions. 

Dr. Hsu takes an integrative, tailored approach, drawing on CBT, ACT, mindfulness, IPT, and schema therapy. She offers a compassionate, collaborative, and culturally sensitive space focused on building practical strategies to support recovery and long-term well-being.

Common Questions about WSIB Psychological Services

What is WSIB psychological treatment?

WSIB psychological treatment refers to assessment and/or psychotherapy provided to individuals whose psychological difficulties are directly related to a workplace injury, accident, or traumatic event and are covered by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB). 

In most cases, yes. WSIB typically requires an accepted WSIB claim, or a pending claim with authorization for services.

Yes, when relevant, psychological assessments and therapy may include functional and return-to-work considerations, based on clinical findings and WSIB guidelines. Final return-to-work decisions remain with WSIB and the employer. 

The length of treatment depends on: 

  1. WSIB authorization
  2. Clinical need
  3. Treatment goals and progress 

Treatment duration and frequency are guided by WSIB approvals and regularly  reviewed.
